Prison Island Overview
Take a short motorised boat ride from Stone Town to the historic Prison Island — known locally as Changuu Island. Despite its name, the island never served as a prison but instead became a quarantine station in the late 19th century. Today, it is famous for its colony of giant Aldabra tortoises, some over a century old.
