Depart your Arusha hotel at approximately 06:30 for the scenic 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. The route passes through Maasai steppe countryside with views of distant mountains. Arrive at the park gate around 08:30 for registration and begin your game drive.
Drive along the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline that attracts wildlife from the surrounding dry savannah. Watch vast elephant herds drinking, playing, and crossing the river. Lions rest in acacia shade, giraffes browse the treetops, and zebras and wildebeest graze the open plains. The baobab trees provide dramatic photo backdrops.
Stop at a scenic picnic site overlooking the river where animals continue to gather. Enjoy your packed lunch while watching elephants, impalas, and birds in their natural habitat.
